Retrospective

The long wait has ended, after 7 years since it's annoucement after the critically acclaimed first entry: Hollowknight, Silksong was finally released on September 4th 2025. The fans of the game were extremely patient due to the long silence of Team Cherry with long waiting times between trailers and annocument, along with multiple delays to the release date.

Briefing

Silksong includes many elements of the first game, like the beautiful 2-D grahpics and the metroidvania gameplay. This time the protagonist is Hornet, who appeared on the first game as powerful yet not evil opponent. Hornet is a very strong character, she has many abilities from the start, featuring a downward dash which is key for world navigation.

The Game So far

After 40+ hours into the game the experience has been extremely challenging and beautiful, the game is hard from the get go, from long runbacks to bosses and difficult areas, to tough bosses with mutliple phases. The world is very open from the start and exploration and gameplay adjustments are encouraged based on the items discovered along the way. This is an ongoing review, so future updates shall be included.
